These afghans are knitted in a basketweave stitch, which produces alternating stockinette and reverse-stockinette squares. They are knitted with a double-strand of worsted yarn that knits up quickly and produces a bulky afghan. This pattern provides directions for afghans with 2-inch squares and 4-inch squares. The marled effect is created by using one strand of solid yarn and one strand of variegated yarn. Both afghans have garter-stitch borders.
