CROCHETED   Two - Piece Creeper Set
 Sizes 1 and 2
This Set can be made with the following:"DAWN" NYLON or NYLON POMPADOUR or "DAWN" INFANTS WOOL
or "DAWN" BABY YARN
8 (9) ozs.  Buttercup or color desired.
1 oz.  Baby Blue or any contrasting color for trim.
Steel crochet hook No. 1.
Plastic crochet hook No. 2.
9 Buttons.

GAUGE: 7 patterns = 2 inches. 8 sc = 1 inch.
Directions are given for size 1. Size 2 is given in brackets.

CARDIGAN  

Ribbing: With Buttercup and No. 1 hook ch 13 (15), sc in 2nd st from hook, 1 sc in each remaining st of ch, ch 1, turn.

2nd Row.  Working in back loop of sts only, work 1 sc in each sc, ch 1, turn.

Repeat 2nd Row until there are 72 (80) rows, 36 (40) ribs. all ribbing is worked in this manner.  Working across long side work 74 (82) sc across ribbing, ch 2, turn.  Change to No. 2 hook and work in pattern as follows:

1 st Row. * Skip 1 sc, 1 dc, 1 sc in next sc, repeat from * across Row ending with dc in last sc, ch 2, turn.

2nd Row. * Skip next dc, 1 dc, 1 sc in next sc (pattern), repeat from * across Row ending with dc in 2nd st of end ch, 36 (40) patterns, ch 2, turn.  Repeat 2nd Row for pattern.

Work even in pattern until back measures 7 (7 ½) inches from beginning, ch 1, turn.

Next Row.  Slip st over next 3 sts for underarm, work in pattern to within last 3 sts, ch 2, turn.  Work 1 Row even in pattern.

Next Row.  Decrease 1 st at beginning and end of Row.  Repeat last 2 rows twice, 30 (34) patterns.  Work even in pattern until armhole measures 3 ¾ (4) inches from lst decreasing point.

Next 2 Rows.  Shoulders: Slip st across 6 sts, work in pattern to within last 6 sts, ch 1, turn.

Next Row.  Slip st across 6 (8) sts, work in pattern to within last 6 (8) sts, ch 1, turn.  Slip st across remaining 26 (30) sts for back of neck, cut yarn.

RIGHT FRONT: With Buttercup and No. 1 hook, ch 13 (15) sts and work ribbing same as on back until there are 40 (44) rows. Working across long side, work 40 (44) sc across ribbing, ch 2, turn. change to No. 2 hook and work in pattern same as on back until front measures same as back to underarm.  Shape armhole same as back armhole.  Work even in pattern until armhole measures 2 ¼ (2 ½ inches from lst decreasing point, ending at neck edge.

Next Row.  Slip st across 11 (12) sts, then decrease 1 st at neck edge every Row until 18 (20) sts remain.  Work even in pattern until armhole measures same as back armhole.  Bind off shoulder same as back shoulder.

LEFT FRONT: Work same as right front reversing the decreasing and shaping.

SLEEVES: With Buttercup and No. 1 hook, ch 13 (15) and work ribbing  as on back until there are 36 (40) rows.  Working across long side work 36 (40) sc across ribbing, ch 2, turn.  Change to No. 2 book and work in pattern increasing 1 st on each side every ¾ inch until there are 54 (58) sts, 27 (29) patterns.  Work even in pattern until sleeve measures 8 (8 ½) inches from the beginning.

Next Row.  Slip st across 3 sts, work in pattern to within last 3 sts, ch 1, turn.  Then keeping pattern uniform, decrease 1 st on each side every Row until 16 (18) sts remain, slip 8t across these sts, cut yarn.

Block each section.  Sew seams and sew sleeves in position.

RIGHT BAND: With right side toward you and No. 1 hook, attach Buttercup at lower edge of front and work 72 (80) sc up front, ch 1, turn and work 4 rows of ribbing same as on back, cut yarn.

LEFT BAND: Attach Buttercup at neck edge, work 1 Row of sc down front, ch 1, turn, work 1 Row in ribbing, ch 1, turn.

Next Row.  1 sc in each of next 2 sc, * ch 2 for buttonhole, skip 2 sc, 1 sc in each of next 14 (16) sc, repeat from * 3 times, ch 2, skip 2 sc, 1 sc in each remaining 4 sc, ch 1, turn, and work 1 sc in each sc working 1 sc in each ch of buttonhole.  Work 1 more Row in ribbing, cut yarn.

COLLAR: With Buttercup and No. 1 hook, ch 11 (13) and work in ribbing same as on back for 72 (80) rows, cut yarn. Blue and wrong side of collar toward you, work 1 sc in each st across each short end, 1 sc in each st across 1 long side working 3 sc in each corner, ch 2, turn.

Next Row. * Skip 2 sc, 3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc in next sc, skip 2 sts, 1 sc in next st, repeat from * around the 3 sides, cut yarn.  Sew collar in position easing in any fullness.

POCKET: With Buttercup ch 13 and work in ribbing same as on back for 14 rows, cut yarn.  With Blue work edge across 1 long side same as on collar.  Sew pocket in position.


  CREEPERS

BACK: With Buttercup and No. 1 hook, ch 13 (15), work in ribbing same as on Cardigan for 72 (80) rows.  Working across long side work 64 (72) sc across ribbing, ch 2, turn.  Change to No. 2 hook and work in pattern same as on Cardigan, increasing 1 st on each side every 6th Row 3 (4) times, 35 (40) patterns.  Work even in pattern until work measures 6 ½ (7 ¼) inches from beginning.

Next Row. Decrease 1 st at beginning and end of Row, then  decrease 1 st on each side every Row 9 (12) times more. Then decrease 2 sts on each side every Row until 14 (18) sts  remain, 7 (9) patterns, cut yarn.

FRONT SECTION: Work same as back section.  Block each section.  Sew side seams.

LEG BAND: With Buttercup and No. 1 hook, ch 9 (11),  work in ribbing same as on Cardigan until there are 72 (80)  rows, cut yarn.  Sew to leg edge.  Work another band in same manner.  With right side toward you, attach Buttercup at lower edge of leg band of front section and working across crotch and opposite leg band work 5 rows of sc, cut yarn.  Work across crotch of back section in same manner working 4 button holes evenly spaced on 3rd Row (to make buttonholes, ch 3, skip 3 sts), cut yarn.

Sew buttons in position on crotch band.

SUSPENDERS: With Buttercup and No. 1 hook, ch 107 (115) and work 9 rows in ribbing same as on Cardigan, cut yarn. Sew suspenders in position.

 This Cardigan can be made with the following: "DAWN" KNITTING WORSTED or"DAWN" NYLON OF KNITTING WORSTED SIZE

6 (7) ozs.  White or color desired.
1 oz.  Navy or any contrasting color. 1 pr. knitting needles No. 4.
6 buttons.
GAUGE: 6 sts = 1 inch.

Directions are given for size 1. Size 2 is given in brackets.

BACK: With White cast on 55 (61) sts and work in pattern knitting in the back of all the K sts for entire cardigan as follows:

1st Row.  K 1, * P 1, K 1, repeat from * across Row.

2nd Row.  P 1, * K 1, P 1, repeat from * across Row.

These 2 rows are repeated for pattern.  Work even in pattern until back measures 7 (7 ½) inches from beginning.

Next 2 Rows.  Bind off 3 sts at beginning of each Row.  Then decrease 1 St on each side very other Row until 45 (51) St remain.  Work even in pattern until armhole measures 3 (3 ½) inches from lst decreasing point.

Next 4 Rows.  Bind off 5 sts at beginning of each Row.

Next 2 Rows.  Bind off 5 (7) sts at beginning of each Row. Bind off remaining 15 ( 17) sts for back of neck.

RIGHT FRONT: With White cast on 35 (39) sts and work in pattern until front measures same as back to underarm, ending at armhole edge.

Next Row.  Bind off 3 sts at beginning of Row, then decrease 1 St at armhole edge every other Row until 30 (34) sts remain, ending at neck edge.

Next Row.  Decrease 1 St at be inning of Row, then decrease 1 St at neck edge every Row until 15 (17) sts remain.  Work even in pattern until armhole measures same as back armhole.  Bind off shoulder same as back shoulder.

LEFT FRONT: Work same as right front reversing the decreasing and shaping, work buttonholes 3 sts from front edge.

BUTTONHOLES: K 1, P 1, K 1, bind off next 3 sts, work in pattern over next 6 sts, bind off next 3 sts (2 buttodholes). on the following Row cast on 3 sts over each of bound off sts.  Work 1st set of buttonholes 1 (1 ½) inches from beginning, then space buttonholes about 2 ½ inches apart (6 buttonholes).

SLEEVES: With White cast on 39 (43) sts, work in pattern for 4 rows, cut yarn.

Next Row.  Attach Navy, work in pattern across Row, cut yarn.

Next 4 Rows.  Attach White, work in pattern across each Row, cut yarn.

Next Row.  Attach Navy'' work in pattern across Row, cut yarn.  Attach White and work even in pattern until sleeve measures 8 ½ (9) inches from beginning.

Next 2 Rows.  Bind off 3 sts at beginning of each Row.  Then decrease 1 st on each side every Row until 5 sts remain, bind off.

COLLAR: With White cast on 45 (51) sts, work in pattern for 3 rows, cut yarn.

Next Row.  Attach Navy, work in pattern across Row, cut yarn.  Attach White and work even in pattern until collar measures 3 ½ inches from beginning.

Next Row.  Work across 15 (17) sts, bind off next 15 (17) sts for back of neck, work across remaining 15 (17) sts.

Working across the 15 (17) sts, work 3 rows even, ending at neck edge.

Next Row.  Decrease 1 st at neck edge.  Then decrease 1 st at neck edge every other Row until 2 sts remain, bind off.  Attach White and work opposite side to correspond.  Block each section.  Sew seams and sew sleeves in position.  Sew collar to neck edge.  Sew buttons in position.  With Navy embroider a Row of chain sts near edge of collar on each side as illustrated.
