Witch Clothespin Doll

Materials:
Small ball 100% cotton thread (size 10) black
Steel crochet hook, size 8 USA (1.50 mm)
(1) 3 3/4" doll pin

Finishing Materials:
Glue
Small amount 4 ply worsted yarn (for hair)
Marker or 1/8" plastic eyes

Finished Size: 5" tall
Gauge: 1 row=7/8"/3 dtrc=1/4"

Skill Level: Medium - Advanced

Special Stitches:
Dtrtr: yo over 5 times, insert hook in indicated st, draw up a lp, (yarn over, draw through 2 lps) 6 times to complete st.

Dress:
Starting at neck: ch 14; join with a sl st in first ch to form a ring, being careful not to twist ch.

Rnd 1) Ch 1, sc in joining; * sc in next ch; rep from * around; join with a sl st in first sc: 14 sc.

Rnd 2) Ch 3 (counts as first dc), (2 dc) in joining; * (3 dc) in next sc; rep from * around; join with a sl st to first dc: 42 dc.

Rnd 3) Ch 3, dc in next 8 dc, sk next 12 dc, dc in next 9 dc, sk last 12 dc; join with a sl st to first dc (forming both armholes): 18 dc.

Rnd 4) Ch 8 (counts as first dtrtr), (2 dtrtr) in next st see special sts; * dtrtr in next dc, (2 dtrtr) in next dc; rep from around; join with a sl st to top of first ch 8: 27 dtrtr.

Rnd 5) Ch 8, dtrtr in joining; * dtrtr in next st, (2 dtrtr) in next dtrtr; rep from * around; join with a sl st to top of first ch 8: 41 dtrtr.

Rnd 6) Ch 1, sc in joining; * sc in next dtrtr; rep from * around; join with a sl st in first sc: 41 sc. Fasten off, secure ends.

Sleeves: (Make two)

Rnd 1) Join thread to unworked dc next to underarm on rnd 3; ch 8, dtrtr in joining; * dtrtr in next st, 2 dtrtr in next st; rep from * around; join with a sl st to top of first ch 8: 18 dtrtr.

Rnd 2) Ch 1, sc in joining; * sc in next dtrtr; rep from * around; join with a sl st in first sc: 18 sc. Fasten off, secure ends.

Rep rnds 1 and 2 for opposite sleeve.

Hat:

Rnd 1) Starting at top: ch 4; (7 dc) in 4th ch from hook (first 3 chs skipped count as first dc); join with a sl st to top of ch 4: 8 dc.

Rnd 2) Ch 3, dc in next 2 dc, (2 dc) in next dc, dc in next 3 dc, (2 dc) in last dc; join with a sl st to first dc: 10 dc.

Rnd 3) Ch 3, dc in next 3 dc, (2 dc) in next dc, dc in next 4 dc, (2 dc) in last dc; join with a sl st to first dc: 12 dc.

Rnd 4) Ch 3, dc in next 4 dc, (2 dc) in next dc, dc in next 5 dc, (2 dc) in last dc; join with a sl st to first dc: 14 dc.

Rnd 5) Ch 3, dc in next 5 dc, (2 dc) in next dc, dc in next 6 dc, (2 dc) in last dc; join with a sl st to first dc: 16 dc.

Rnd 6) Ch 1, sc in joining, sc in next 6 dc, (2 sc) in next dc, sc in next 7 dc, (2 sc) in last dc; join with a sl st in first sc: 18 sc.

Rnd 7) Ch 4 (counts as first trc), (2 trc) in joining, (2 trc) in next sc; * (3 trc) in next sc, (2 trc) in next sc; rep from * around; join with a sl st to first trc: 45 trc. Fasten off, secure ends.

Finishing:

Pull dress on clothes pin doll and apply a dab of glue to inside bodice to keep secure. Wind yarn around first two fingers about 6 times and clip from skein. Clip another piece of yarn and tie around one side of yarn wound around fingers. Cut through wound yarn on opposite side of where it''s tied. Glue to head of clothes pin and apply glue to sides of clothes pin to hold yarn down. Be sure to leave an area for her face. Wad a bit of black thread and place inside hat crown to give it some shape and glue hat to head. Either paint, draw or glue plastic eyes to face of witch.
