Crochet Bookworm Bookmark
size "G" crochet hook
stiff thin wire
Chain 63; skip 1 chain; 3 single crochet in the next 4 chains (head); switch to 3 double crochet in each chain, continuing until you develop 3 complete spirals; 3 single crochet in the next 3 chains; 1 single crochet in next 2 chains; 1 slip stitch in next 2 chains. Cut the yarn and pull the end through, tightening to create a slip knot. Weave the end into the other stitches so its not visible.
Twist the worm fairly snug, tugging on the "head" so it''s clearly visible. Glue the eyes in place with clear silicone. (Since you only need a very small amount of silicone, a toothpick makes a suitable applicator.)
Create glasses by bending wire around any object that is extremely small in diameter (i.e. 3/8" drill bit). Once you create the first loop, bend a second one right next to it. Bend the wire on either side of these two loops straight back (creating the arms of the glasses). Snip the wire to a suitable length, enough to embed the arms into the yarn, but not so long that it comes out the other side. Once you have the glasses positioned properly, place a dot of clear silicone on either side to hold them permanently in place.
