Materials:
baby yarn
size F crochet hook
2 buttons

Ch 40

Row 1:
dc in 3rd chin from hook, this is the first stitch, dc in next 4 chains, 3 dc in next ch, dc in next 7 ch, 3dc in next ch, dc in next 9 ch, 3 dc in next ch. dc in next 7 ch, 3 dc in next ch, dc to end, ch 3, turn

Row 2:
dc in next 6 dc, 3 dc in next dc, dc in next 9 dc, 3 dc in next dc,dc in next 11 dc, 3 dc in next dc, dc in next 9 dc, 3 dc in next dc, dc to end putting 2 dc in last stitch. (you should put a pin or piece of string here to remind you which side to increase on for the cross over) ch 3, turn.

Row 3:
dc in ch 3 space, dc in next 8 dc, 3 dc in next dc, dc in next 11 dc, 3 dc in next dc, dc in next 13 dc, 3 dc in next dc, dc in next 11 dc, 3 dc in next dc, dc to end, ch 3, turn.

Row 4:
You should have four 3 dc corner shells. In this next row you will dc to the first shell and attach to the center of the next shell with a sc, dc to the next shell and attach to the last shell with sc. You should now have two sleeve holes. 2 dc in last stitch, ch 3 turn.

Row 5:
dc in bottom of ch 3 space, dc across, ch 3 turn

Row 6:
dc across, 2 dc in last stitch, ch 3 turn

Row 7:
dc in ch 3 space, dc across, ch 3 turn

Row 8 & 9:
dc across

(creating diaper cover)

Row 10:
slip stitch the next 10 dc, ch 3, dc in next 18 dc, ch 3 turn.

Row 11:
skip two dc, dc in next 15 dc, ch 3 turn

Row 12:
skip 2 dc, dc in next 12 dc, ch 3 turn

Row 13:
skip 2 dc, dc in next 9 dc, ch 3 turn

Row 14:
skip 2 dc, dc in next 6 dc, ch 3 turn

Row 15:
dc across, ch 3 turn.

Row 16:
dc in ch 3 sp, dc in next 2 dc, 2 dc in next dc, dc in next 2 dc, 2 dc in last stitch, ch 3 turn.

Row 17:
dc in ch 3 sp, dc in next 3 dc, 2 dc in next dc, dc in next 4 dc, 2 dc in last stitch. ch 3 turn

Row 18:
dc in ch 3 sp, dc in next 5 dc, 2 dc in next dc, dc in next 6 dc, 2 dc in last stitch, ch 3, turn.

Row 19:
dc in ch 3 sp, dc in next 7 dc, 2 dc in next dc, dc in next 6 dc, 2 dc in last stitch. Ch 3 turn.

Row 20:
dc across, fasten off.

Finishing

Sew on button on the right panel to be the connection for the cross over piece and the diaper cover. Sew the other button on the front of the left cross over piece.

Your done!
Note: to make your piece look a little cleaner around the edges you might want to sc all around the edges, but that is optional, it looks great without as well as with. Any additions you make are up to you. With a little ruffle on the back of the diaper cover it would make a cute girls set if you like frills. The details are up to you. Enjoy.
