MATERIALS:
50 grams (1 3/4 ounces) Worsted Weight Yarn per golf club cover.
Two 3.75 mm (US 5) needles.

METHOD.
Cast on 32 sts.
Work 20 cm (8 ins) using (k2, p2) ribbing.

Next Row. Inc 1 st in first st. *k1. Inc 1 st in next st. Repeat from * to last st. k1. You should have 48 sts on the needle.

Start with a purl row. Work 25 rows of stocking st, ending with a purl row.

Shape Top.

1st Row. *k6. k2tog. Repeat from * to end of row. Purl one row. 42 sts on needle.
3rd Row. *k5. k2tog. Repeat from * to end of row. Purl one row. 36 sts on needle.
5th Row. *k4. k2tog. Repeat from * to end of row. Purl one row. 30 sts on needle.
7th Row. *k3. k2tog. Repeat from * to end of row. Purl one row. 24 sts on needle.
9th Row. *k2. k2tog. Repeat from * to end of row. Purl one row. 18 sts on needle.
11th Row. *k1. k2tog. Repeat from * to end of row. Purl one row. 12 sts on needle.

Break yarn. Thread end through remaining sts. Pull up and fasten. Sew seam.

Golf Club Numbers

Using duplicate stitch (Swiss embroidery) add the club numbers using the grid below and a contrasting yarn.


OPTIONS
Add a pompom to the top if desired.

Or

Using four strands of yarn, make a twisted cord 15 cm (6 ins) long for each cover. Sew one end of each cord to the top of each cover. Sew the other end of the cords together and add a pompom where the cords are joined. This will prevent you from losing the covers when a club is in use.
