Free crochet pattern for an applique in a fun car shape, that would be cute sewn to a purchased plain sweater or added to a basic crocheted sweater for a child.

Materials Used In The Example:
Worsted Weight Yarn - Red Heart
Color A: Cherry Red
Color B: Small amount of Soft Navy Blue, color No. 0387
US Size G hook
Car Shape Width: 5 inches, at widest point
Car Shape Height: 3 inches at tallest point (not counting wheels)
Wheel Circles: 1 1/2 inches in diameter
Gauge: 4 sc = 1 inch, 4 sc rows = 1 inch

For a tiny applique, use size 10 crochet thread and a size 8 steel hook. 2" x 1 1/4"

ch = chain
dec = decrease
ea = each
rnd = round
sc = single crochet
sl st = slip stitch

How To Slip Stitch (sl st) = Insert hook in stitch, wrap yarn over hook, pull yarn through the stitch and through the loop on the hook, at the same time. A slip stitch does not add any height and is used to join a chain or stitch to another place in the crochet piece.
