Fisherman Star Afghan
FISHERMAN STAR AFGHAN
Materials: Caron Dazzleaire; 20 skeins Vanilla.
PLEASE NOTE: Yarn usage may vary depending on your particular yarn
Needles: Size G afghan hook or size to reach gauge below.
Gauge: 4 dc and 2 rows = 1".
Finished Measurements: approximately 54" x 78".
Foundation Row: Work a ch 208 sts; dc in 4th ch from hk and in
ea ch across (206 dc counting turning ch as 1 dc. Ch 3 and turn.
Row 1: * Ch 3 of previous row acts as 1 dc. Work 1 dc in ea of next
3 dc, (ch 1, skip 1 dc, dc in ea of next 4 sts) 3 times*; ** (ch 1 skip 1
dc, 1 dc in next st) 20 times, dc in ea of next 3 dc **; rep bet **''s three
more times, (ch 1, skip 1 dc, dc in ea of next 4 sts) 3 times. Ch 3 and
turn. Beginning and ending of 4 groups of 4 dc, ch 1 will remain constant
and are borders for this design.
Row 2: Work as row 1 bet *''s, [ch 1, skip ch-1, 1 dc in next dc 5 times,
1 dc in next ch-1 sp, dc in next dc; ch 1, skip ch-1, 1 dc in next dc 8
times; 1 dc in next ch-1 sp, dc in next dc; ch 1, skip ch-1, 1 dc in next
dc 5 times, 1 dc in ea of next 3 sts]. Rep bet ''s 3 more times, end (ch
1, skip 1 dc, dc in ea of next 4 sts) 3 times. Ch 3 and turn.
Row 3: Follow established border of 4 groups of 4 dc. Follow chart,
begin at row 3. Always work borders at beg and end of rows and having 4
dc bet group of motifs. Solid blocks are worked by working 3 dc instead
of 1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc. Where 2 X''s are shown, work 5 dc, where 3 X''s are shown
work 7 dc, where 4X''s are shown work 9 dc. There are 4 Star motifs across
Row 20: Same as row 1.
Rows 21-22: Work border, 1 dc in ea st until end border, work border.
Repeat rows 1-22 5 more times. (Six complete motifs from bottom to top
with 4 complete motifs across). End last repeat with row 21. Fasten off.
Fringe: Worked across narrow edges. With Ip of yarn on hk, join
in corner. * Ch 3, skip 3 sts, 1 sc in next st, rep from * across. Fasten
Wrap remaining yarn around a 6" cardboard. Cut at one end. Fold
and knot 5 strands of yarn over each ch-3 Ip across narrow edges. Trim evenly.
Light or no blocking required.

Machine Wash: warm water, gentle cycle.
Machine Dry: low heat, delicate cycle.
